Credit reference agencies maintain information about you and your credit history. This information is gathered on an ongoing basis from many sources that have extended you credit.

Lenders, employers, landlords, and other service providers buy that information in the form of a credit report to help them decide whether to approve your application for a loan, credit card, job, or housing, or to offer you a product or service at a particular rate.

Make sure your Credit Reports are up to date and don't contain in-correct information which could stop you getting Credit, Bank Accounts or even your Next Job. Both Experian and Equifax offer a FREE Credit report. Simply click the logo below for your FREE Credit Report. Remember, they may both hold different information so it's worth checking them both!

• Show your a list of your Credit Accounts, from Mobile Phones, Credit Cards, Personal loans and bank accounts through to some Utility providers.

• It will show how you pay your bills, for example, if you make payments on time.

• It will show how many applications and to which companies you have applied (look out for potential fraud) applications. ID theft is serious and this could be an indication someone has attempted to steal your information in order to obtain credit.

• A Credit Report should show any linked addresses, the number of accounts you have, any CCJ's Defaults or CIFA's (fraud warnings).

Credit Reference agencies do not hold a Black List, in fact, there is no such thing as a Black list.

• Credit Reference agencies do not make Credit decisions, they simply provide your Credit Report to companies who you apply to Credit For.

• Credit Reference agencies can help you remove incorrect information from your Credit file.
